Nick is the visionary behind fortyone ARCHITECTURE so we thought you might be interested to learn a little more about what makes him tick.

It all started with his childhood drawings.  While other kids were drawing action heroes and dinosaurs, he was sketching out floor plans.  His best by far was a McDonalds with a slide into a pool.  But even though architecture was always on his mind, he didn’t jump into it after high school. He figured he had decades to be a full-fledged contributing member of society, so why not try a bunch of stuff first?

A few odd jobs, a few years later, and with a few adventures under his belt he was ready to settle in and follow his life passion: Architecture.  But more than that… helping people create an ideal home that fits them and their family now and in the future. Potential excites him and creating opportunity for others is what makes him click.

But it’s not all work and no play for Nick.  He loves shooting some hoops, listening to podcast, watching UFC and he’s very proud of his “World’s Best Dad” mug that is proudly displayed on his desk.

When it comes to style, it’s hard to pin Nick down on anything specific – but that’s what makes his style and ideas different.  They are an eclectic mix of everything he’s studied, seen, and dreamed!  And speaking of dreams, he still dreams of visiting Japan to see all of its amazing architecture in person; a box he plans to check off soon from his bucket list!

Five years from now his plan is to still be doing his thing… working to make fortyone ARCHITECTURE a local leader in the architecture realm.

Finn comes from a family of builders, so architecture was in his blood from the beginning.  Nobody could build a better leaning tower of Pisa from building blocks, and when he was asked to design a house for a school project at the age of eleven, it was apparent to everyone he would eventually be doing this for a living.

In his studies he focused on architectural technology and used that foundation to get his start in the industry.  But it wasn’t long into his career that he realized his passion and favorite part of the job is actually detailing.  And now that he’s part of the fortyone family, he’s our go-to guy for designing small spaces with many features creatively slipped in and incorporating interesting design points into places you would least expect it.

He loves solving problems and enjoys the challenge of having a design element presented to him that he hasn’t seen before.  He’ll sit down, lock himself in a room, and you won’t see him again until he emerges with a mind blowing solution and a stack of empty coffee cups he used to fuel his creativity.

In his mind the KING Toronto by Bjarke Ingels is the apex of architectural genius!  With the natural elements that engulf the building and the series of cubes stacked atop one another in a seemingly random fashion, it’s all the small details that made a huge difference.

The seldom times he’s not contemplating new design ideas in his mind, he’s powerlifting, gaming, and listening to his favorite music.  In five years, he plans to be a family man at home and continuing his reign as the design guru at work.
